These galleries began as an experiment. I wondered if AI image tools would be able to colourise and enhance vintage newspaper advertisements and the cheeky spanking themed comic panels that often appeared in mid-century publications like Humorama and Gee-Whiz.
That led me to push the same techniques further, creating new images by describing scenarios inspired by those retro comics. With the right prompt and some basic photo manipulation, you can generate images that capture the nostalgic deadpan humour of those old comic panels. For example…
